Striking Writer Martini

Submitted by Andrew on 8 January 2008 - 9:12pm

Here’s an idea for all of you mourning the cancellation of the Golden Globes. Put on a fancy dress or a tuxedo to suit your gender, mix this fabulous cocktail and toast both the absent victors and the struggling writers.

Why this cocktail in particular? Well, its appropriate for two reasons: it’s elegance itself and would be a splendid addition to any award ceremony; and it was created by screenwriter Nian Aster while taking some much deserved solace at the “The Backstage Bar”.

I’d write more, but in deference to the worthy and courageous writers, I will keep this particular story brief.

Set

Go

  1. Chill cocktail glass to identify with the families that risk being out in the cold.
  2. Add vodka, cranberry, lemon juice, vanilla extract and a few ice cubes to cocktail shaker.
  3. Shake well.
  4. Pour into a chilled martini glass.
  5. Garnish with a half a grapevine, as the writers hope to be back on the set soon.

What you should know

You can substitute vanilla vodka for the four drops of vanilla extract.
