Homemade Apple Sauce

Submitted by DChoi on 3 March 2010 - 5:39am

I used to make this all the time for my daughters when they were infants. Now they are 7 and 4, and still love this applesauce which is all natural and nutritious. Just when your apples are starting to go soft, you can whip up this quick snack which is delicious on its own. Or you can add it to plain yogurt, or serve as a side with pork chops or potato latkes.

  1. Slice apples — need not peel them.
  2. Place in steamer over boiling water. Steam until apples are tender to touch.
  3. Let apple slices cool.
  4. Use hand blender or Cuisinart to puree steamed apple slices.
  5. Sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon.
  6. Serve warm or cold.
